SUMMARY:A Question of Sport
DESCRIPTION:Fun\, Food and Fierce Competition – All for a Great Local Cause \nGet your team together for a great night of sporting entertainment as the Armchair Club’s Question of Sport returns with a special guest\, a new electronic scoring system and plenty of friendly rivalry. \n\nMonday 5 October 2026 | 7.00pm–10.30pm\n1861 Suite\, Mansfield Town Football Club\nJust £15 per person – including a Pie & Pea Supper\n\nSpecial Guest – John McGovern – We’re delighted that Nottingham Forest legend John McGovern\, captain of Brian Clough’s European Cup-winning team\, will be joining us and speaking during the evening. \nCompered by Nick Johnson – Keeping the evening moving will be Nick Johnson\, an experienced Sky Sports broadcaster\, sports journalist and event host\, bringing plenty of sporting knowledge\, humour and professional polish to proceedings. \nNew Electronic Table Scoring – This year we’re introducing an exciting electronic table scoring system. Teams will submit their answers electronically\, making scoring faster and slicker and adding a whole new dimension to the competition. With live scoring updates\, every round matters and the leaderboard can change right up to the final questions. Want to see how the system works? Watch our short demonstration here: https://youtu.be/F7BLNuMDHAc (It’s demonstrated using a Coronation Street quiz – but you’ll get the idea!) \nSix Rounds of Sporting Challenges – You don’t need to be a sporting encyclopaedia to take part. The six rounds are designed to test a mixture of knowledge\, memory\, observation and sporting instinct: \nA Great Night and a Great Local Cause – A Question of Sport is a fundraising event for the Armchair Club\, helping us continue our work supporting local sportspeople\, talented young athletes and grassroots sporting organisations. For many years the Armchair Club has provided financial support towards the costs that can make a real difference – including equipment\, coaching\, travel\, competition expenses and development opportunities. So\, while you’re competing for the Question of Sport Trophy\, you’ll also be helping local sportspeople pursue their own sporting ambitions. \nAt just £15 per person\, including a Pie & Pea Supper\, we think it represents a great-value night of sporting entertainment while raising money for an excellent local cause. Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends\, a club social\, a works team night or an entertaining evening with clients and colleagues\, we’d love you to join us. \nTelephone Bev on Mansfield 707017 or simply email at stewart@rickersey.net to reserve your places. \n\n  \nPrevious Winners \n\n\n\n\n\n	1999 – Judson Signs2012 – Stopford Associates2025 - Collins Casuals\n\n\n	2000 – Judson Signs2013 – Andrew Saunders Insurance Services\n\n\n	2001 – SPG2014 – Andrew Saunders Insurance Services\n\n\n	2002 – David Blount Estate Agents2015 – Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies\n\n\n	2003 – David Blount Estate Agents2016 – Alfreton Insurance\n\n\n	2004 – The Chad2017 – Alfreton Insurance\n\n\n	2005 – Alfreton Insurance Services2018 – Collins Wealth Management\n\n\n	2006 – Alfreton Insurance Services2019 – John Sankey Estate Agents\n\n\n	2007 – The Chad2020 – Edwinstowe Plumbing & Heating\n\n\n	2008 – East Midlands Plastering2021 – Cancelled due to covid\n\n\n	2009 – The Chad2022 - Collins Casuals\n\n\n	2010 – Nat West Bank2023 - Collins Casuals\n\n\n	2011 – Andrew Saunders Insurance Services2024 – Hopkins Solicitors
